For the love of kids

Monday, October 18, 2010
New Zealand's oldest mother, Lyn MasonNew Zealand's oldest mother, Lyn Mason, and her husband Ian tell Denise Irvine how they cope with their young family and other people's curiosity.

It's a few days before Celine Mason's birthday, and when asked what she'd like as a present, she replies promptly, "a little pony".

This is not of the four-legged, ride-on variety, but the brand of My Little Pony toys popular with girls, and Celine would like to add another one to her collection. She fishes in the toy cupboard and shows some of her favourites.

Big brother Dean, 8, had his birthday in July, and he got a Star Wars Lego set that he's obviously had hours of pleasure from.

Both the Mason kids have a light sabre, and they've recently been to a dress-up Star Wars disco at Hukanui Primary. "Some big people were dressed up in Star Wars costumes," says Dean. "They looked real."

Dean and Celine cuddle up to their mother Lyn for a photograph in their pleasant home in Hamilton's northern suburbs. The years since they were born seemed to have flashed by, and yesterday Celine celebrated her sixth birthday. There's nothing particularly remarkable about that. Except that Lyn was 55 when she gave birth to her daughter, and 53 when she had Dean.

Lyn made history as New Zealand's oldest mother, and both children were conceived by in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), with their father Ian's sperm and donor eggs from a family friend. Although several women overseas have been reported to have given birth in their 50s, 60s and 70s, to the best of everyone's knowledge, Lyn holds the New Zealand record.

Mothers who beat the clock - Mary Shearing

Friday, July 24, 2009
Mothers who beat the clock - Mary ShearingIt seemed best to start with a woman who had lived with the stigma for the longest time, Mary Shearing, 70, a Californian, and her 16-year-old twins Kelly and Amy. Mary was one of the first post-menopausal women to have IVF, but although critics warned she was “cheating nature” and would never keep up with her girls’ interests, it didn’t work out that way.

Mary spends an hour in the gym every morning and water-skis regularly. It’s only now, with the girls almost grown up, that their mother’s age is starting to worry them.

“Our connection is fantastic — much better than with my first kids. I think they would have been better off if I’d been a little bit more mature. I had my first child when I was 19 and that was just too young.”

They are a loving family: indeed, it’s all but impossible to disapprove of Mary’s decision to have IVF at 53.

'It's never too late'53-year-old is new mother of twins

Saturday, July 18, 2009
David and SarajeAn Grainsons family got a little larger when twin sons Matthew and David were born in May. Three-year-old Luke is now a big brother.Even at 53, Valley Stream resident Sarajean Grainson had a biological clock that never stopped ticking.

And now, six weeks after the birth of her twin sons, she wants women to know that it's never too late to be a mom.

After speaking to a 40-year-old friend who underwent in-vitro fertilization, Sarajean decided that the procedure was the best choice for her. To increase the chances of a pregnancy, she was implanted with two donor eggs from East Coast Fertility, a clinic in Plainview, in April 2006, and gave birth to a son, Luke, that December.

She and David went back to East Coast Fertility in September of 2008, hoping to give Luke a younger sibling. This time three donor eggs were implanted, and two of them turned out to be viable. The Grainsons were told they were having twins. "I was in shock," Sarajean said. "I was hysterical crying."

Why Have a Baby After 50?

Friday, July 10, 2009
The author and her son Harper, channeling their inner cowpoke outside a lodge she owns in Stanley, Idaho.I opened my post office box and removed an AARP magazine, a La Leche League newsletter, and a postcard of a pagoda in Myanmar, which I'd mailed to myself two weeks earlier while on assignment in the country formerly known as Burma. The Idaho mountain morning was autumn orange, my first at home after 24 sleepless hours flying economy class from Yangon. My baby screamed whenever the stroller stopped rocking, and the early miseries of a cold pounded in my head.

I am 54 years old and suffering the delirious consequences of weaning a baby and being one of the first Western journalists to visit Naypyidaw, the new capital city of the military dictatorship that has held the Nobel Peace Prize-winner Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest for much of the past 18 years. No doubt, I am also the first breastfeeding 54-year-old journalist to go this route. (No, I didn't take my son with me: Myanmar, military dictators, and babies really don't mix.) But today, deadlines looming and baby wailing as if his hair is on fire, I choose to blame my entire exhausted life on the airline's lack of business-class upgrades and on Mary Martin.

Valley Stream woman gives birth to twins at 53

Monday, June 22, 2009
Sarajean Grainson, 54 with twinsEven if the two digits - 54 - were reversed, Sarajean Grainson would be considered an older mom. But she'll turn 54 in July, and last month the Valley Stream woman gave birth to fraternal twins Matthew and David.

It's not so shocking anymore for a woman in her 50s to have a newborn. But the Grainson clan gathered for a news conference Thursday at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where the twins were born, because Grainson said she wanted to inspire women not to give up on the dream of carrying a baby.

"I want women to know there is no biological clock. . . . It's not ticking anymore," Grainson said. A doctor brought Grainson out of menopause and combined donor eggs with her husband's sperm.

Grainson plans to stay home full-time; she joked that while other women jump from planes or go to the Caribbean in retirement, she'll joyfully spend hers raising children.

Time to update our over 40 Birth Statistics Quote

Wednesday, March 25, 2009
It's time to update this quote:

"In 2005, there were more than 104,000 births in the United States to women ages 40 through 44, and over 6,500 to women 45 and older. In 2004, there were 1,786 live births to women over 42, using donor eggs."

Checking the 2007 birth stats today at the CDC and I found:
All races and origins
40–44 years................. 105,071 live births
45–54 years................ 7,349 live births

Next I went to SART, who has the 2007 IVF and Donor Egg rates in the US:

Fresh Embryos From Non-Donor Oocytes
Number of cycles : (40-42) 8,865 (43-44) 5,749
Percentage of cycles resulting in live births : (40-42) 11.7 (43-44) 4.6
Total live births : (40-42) 1,037.2 (43-44) 264.5

TOTAL (40-44) : 1,301.7

Thawed Embryos From Non-Donor Oocytes
Number of transfers : (40-42) 1,043 (43-44) 652
Percentage of transfers resulting in live births : (40-42) 20.7 (43-44) 14.6
Total live births : (40-42) 215.9 ( 43-44) 95.2

TOTAL (40-44) : 311

Total number of women conceiving from IVF (non-DE) (40-44) : 1,613

Donor Oocytes (all ages)
Number of transfers : (Fresh Embryos) 9,575 (Thawed Embryos) 5,087
Percentage of transfers resulting in live births : (Fresh) 55.2 (Thawed) 31.7
Total Live Births : (Fresh) 5,285.4 (Thawed) 1612.6

TOTAL births by Donor Egg (all ages) : 6,898

Number of live-birth deliveries resulting from ART cycles started in 2006: 41,343

How old were the women who used ART in the United States in 2006?
Figure 3: The average age of women using ART services in 2006 was 36. The largest group of women using ART services were women younger than 35, representing 39% of all ART cycles carried out in 2006. Twenty-three percent of ART cycles were carried out among women aged 35–37, 19% among women aged 38–40, 10% among women aged 41–42, and 10% among women older than 42.

Number of live-birth deliveries to women using ART older than 42 in 2007: 4,134

How did the types of ART cycles used in the United States in 2006 differ among women of different ages?
Figure 4 shows that, in 2006, the type of ART cycles varied by the woman’s age. The vast majority (96%) of women younger than 35 used their own eggs, whereas only 4% used donor eggs. In contrast, 21% of women aged 41 to 42 and more than half (55%) of women older than 42 used donor eggs. Across all age groups, more ART cycles using fresh eggs or embryos were performed than cycles using frozen embryos.

Number of live-birth deliveries to women using Donor Egg older than 42 in 2004: 2,274

So the updated quote becomes:
"In 2007, there were more than 105,000 births in the United States to women ages 40 through 44, and over 7,349 to women 45 to 54. In 2007, there were 2,274 live births to women over 42, using donor eggs."

Dr informed her she was 7m pregnant at 54

Thursday, June 19, 2008
I found this at Fertile Heart today:

DON'T LOSE HOPE! Here's a great story from an autobiography called Because They Hate, by Brigitte Gabriel. On page 4 of the book, Gabriel says her parents tried for twenty years to have a child.

One day her mother noticed a swelling in her abdomen and feared it was a tumor. The doctor informed her she was 7 months pregnant! She was 54 years old. Her husband was 60.

I had my baby 2 days after my 45th birthday

Saturday, June 14, 2008
I miscarried early-on, at the age of 43, and had similar mixed feelings. I convinced myself that it was probably best that I lost the baby, since I already had two older children from my previous marriage.

But I knew I would probably never be pregnant again, and that made me feel disappointed and sad (although I was also partially relieved, thinking I was too old to go through it all again, etc.).

Then... I got pregnant again (not trying, just not NOT trying), and had a healthy little baby boy two days after my 45th birthday. Christopher is 2-1/2 now, and little (unborn) "Emily" is beautiful in my dreams.

Moms in 50's cope as well as young women

Friday, June 13, 2008
Mothers in their 50's 'cope as well as young women'. More than 22,000 women over 40 gave birth last year, including around 900 aged over 45. In 1995 there were only 11,000 new mothers in their 40's.

4537~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I work with a lady (Kathy) who came to me the other day, and told me to not give up on TTC [trying to conceive].

Her sister in-law, who is 44, sat the family down to inform them that she went to the Doctor after 12 months of thinking she was in full blown menopause having no period. She was afraid that she had a tumor growing because her stomach was getting more and more swollen, thinking she was for sure going to die.

She and her husband had tried for 24 years to have a baby. Her Doctor told her to give up, so they did. Well, when she went to the Doctor he started running tests, and BFP [big fat positive - positive pregnancy test]!

Well this weekend she has a normal healthy baby girl, that gives me so much hope now! Girls, we all can do it! I just wanted to share this with all of you.

The new mother will be 45 in a couple of weeks. Kim

1y old triplets by IVF at 53

Thursday, May 29, 2008
One of my father's cousins has 1 year old triplets that were the product of IVF [in vitro fertilization] ; she is 53.

Granted, she did not just have sex and get pregnant, but those three babies all came from her own egg(s).

4509~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

It happened to one of my mom's co-workers. At age 51, she became accidentally pregnant the 100% natural way. She actually became pregnant through a Tubal Ligation and everything.

She ended up carrying the baby to term, and is now a mother to a baby AND a grandmother to a baby

We shouldn't assume every older mother did DE

Monday, May 26, 2008
We shouldn't be making assumptions that every older mother did donor egg, nor should we put too much hope in stories of much older women conceiving with their own eggs.

Look at the trends, and make your own decision about how long you want to fight the trend by trying with your own eggs, vs. deciding that the time has come to accept that the odds are just so stacked against you that you must move on to other alternatives.

Remember, too, that is really is not all "age related." I apparently lost my egg quality in my late 20's, as do some women. Others retain their fertility into their 50's.

An Israeli RE [reproductive endocrinologist] named Neri Laufer just discovered a gene in certain women that corresponds to later fertility. He was fascinated by the number of older pregnant women coming into the hospital for delivery.

You can google his name if you want to read about it. His group included women up into their early 50's. So much for any stats showing that NO women conceive in this age group!

4503~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

For those who just can't let go of the belief that all pregnant women over 45 must have used donor eggs, consider the population that Laufer studied. These were mostly, if not all, ultra-religious women for whom DE [donor eggs] would have been prohibited.

Imagine you have 10 kids already, you're living on government assistance and still exist below the poverty line, donor egg is not offered in your country, and your religious leader forbids the procedure anyway.

Now you tell me -- all these women secretly squirreled away thousands of dollars, disappeared from their communities for a couple of weeks to go to the Ukraine, defied their religious teachings, all in an effort to get pregnant with baby #11? Use your common sense!

The same can be applied to the Native American women living on reservations. Many have a lot of kids already and can't afford groceries let alone donor egg IVF cycles. The problem with middle and upper class American women like us is that we think we are representative of every group (and our RE's [reproductive endocrinologist] promote that thinking too, because they are victims of the same egocentric system).

If it becomes impossible for us to conceive after age 43, well, then, that must be true of everyone. Only it's not true. It's really not even true for our demographic.

RE's choose to present certain information based on the context. When they are counseling a 40 yr old with high FSH [follicle stimulating hormone] about her treatment options, of course they are going to highlight fertility trends in the general population and the success rates of certain treatment options because this is what is relevant to her. The goal is to get her a baby, not turn her into a rare statistic.

She has to make an informed decision based on medical facts as to what will give her the best odds of success. After age 40 and with high FSH, that's donor egg.

But if you ask that same doctor in another context, say, a conversational context, about much older women conceiving, he will concede that yes, it is absolutely possible and does happen, though not as often as we would like.

If he subscribes to the notion that no women get pregnant naturally after 45, then he's an idiot and you should get another doctor -- it means he's not up on basic information in his field.

A 50-year-old woman has become Britain's oldest mother of triplets in what is described by her gynaecologist as "the chance of the century".

Sue Green from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire gave birth to triplets Oliver, Aaron, and Samuel, on 8 November last year, nine weeks early.

The multiple birth makes Mrs Green the second oldest mother of triplets in the world, after a 57-year-old Italian woman who gave birth in 1994.

45 in May & pregnant with my 1st

Sunday, April 27, 2008
I'm going to be 45 in May, and I'm pregnant with my first, with my own eggs.

So far so good, I'm almost out of the first trimester with no problems. It's definitely possible.

Even though the stats are low, they are not zero, which means that women our age are having children. -Yoi

4381~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

I’m posting this in encouragement to myself and others over 40 still TTC [trying to conceive] ....

Here in Sweden, a much loved TV personality Tina Leijonberg is 15 weeks pregnant with her second child. She is 45 and her boyfriend is 31. She previously has a daughter who is 9.

And one of our well-known TV anchors at Channel 4, Anna Lindmarker, had her third child, a son, when she was 45.

Other Swedish celebrity moms who had their children late are : Annika Falkengren, the CEO for one of Sweden's largest banks SEB, who had her first child, a daughter, at 42.

Marita Ulvskog, top politician within the Social-democratic party, who had a son at 43 and Malou von Sivers, TV-journalist, who had her third child, a daughter, when she was 43. -- Ellen, 42 (43 this summer...) from Sweden

4382~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

I'm not saying you are not in, but I'm definitely saying you are NOT out of the game.

Sheesh, my cousin, just last year turned up pregnant at 45, delivered a healthy baby boy at 46....

4383~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

I feel the same way because I, too, am pregnant at a old age of 53

4384~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

I am 45, turning 46 on April 28th, and am approximately 8 weeks pregnant. We'll see if this one 'sticks'.

I thought I was already swinging into menopause, and was not keeping track of my periods. I have no idea when the first day of my last period was, and am hesitating to go to the lab to get the beta tests done.

I am going to wait a few more weeks to see what happens with my 'old eggs' status - as the specialists have been telling me - my only options were egg donor or adoption, but I've gotten pregnant 3 times since then.

California Woman, 53, Gives Birth to Twins

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

A 53-year-old grandmother who became pregnant through test-tube fertilization has given birth to twin girls here.

The new mother, Mary Shearing, is apparently the oldest woman ever to have given birth to a test-tube baby in the United States.

Dennis Gaschen, a spokesman at Martin Luther Hospital, where the twins were delivered on Tuesday, said the oldest post-menopausal woman in the nation to have delivered a test-tube baby previously was 52.

The Guinness Book of Records lists the oldest mother as a woman nearly 57 1/2 years old who gave birth in California in 1956.

Mrs. Shearing's babies, born 12 weeks prematurely and both weighing less than three pounds, were listed as being in guarded condition today. One was delivered vaginally, the other by Caesarean section.

Mrs. Shearing, who has three children and two grandchildren from a previous marriage, was going through menopause when she was implanted on May 15 with embryos obtained by using donated eggs and sperm from her 32-year-old husband, Don. Hormones were used in the first trimester to sustain the pregnancy.

Journalist needs help

Monday, March 24, 2008
Johanna wrote: I am researching a story about the very thing you wrote about on your blog. The fact that women undergoing menopause can still conceive (though it is more difficult) so they need to keep using birth control if they want to avoid a pregnancy.

I am looking to interview women who either had to deal with an unplanned pregnancy during perimenopause or were surprised to discover they still needed to use birth control. If you know of anyone willing to share their story, could you forward my contact information. Unfortunately, I am under the gun with my deadline. I have to submit the piece to my editor at the Wall Street Journal (it is a freelance story) by April 1. Can you help me?

46, 45, 43, 44y gave birth last year

Saturday, March 22, 2008
I too am 47, and am trying to conceive. My best friend (46) just had a baby (from North Dakota) and everything was fine.

Just in my small community we have a 46, 45, 43 and 44 year old give birth this last year, and their babies were fine. None of them underwent testing, because they would not terminate.

I gave birth to my last at age 40, after my husband had a vasectomy reversal.

I had a healthy baby girl last September at 44. We opted for Early Risk Assessment (ERA) for the genetic screening. It was non-invasive, and although it only told us probabilities regarding genetic disorders, it was enough to help us relax and enjoy a healthy pregnancy.

I have had experience with cheap pregnancy test, two came back what they call "inconclusive" and took a third one the next day "First Response" and that positive sign showed up in 30 seconds.

I was 44 when I conceived my son. I just turned 46 in December. I have no other children, not by choice, it just never happened. I remarried three years ago, younger man, and got pregnant.

I was told I would not get pregnant, because my eggs were immature producing a nearly no existence period until I turned 40.. Then they decided to mature I guess, and started having regular periods.

Go figure... by the way my son just turned one year old on Sunday also.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! - Pauline

If you have regular cycles and no outward signs of menopause, then I think that you have lots of hope.

My step grandma had her last child in her mid 50's with no intervention whatsoever, and from the pic of her younger ones I think she had those in her mid to late 40's.

My grandmother had her last child when she was 49 years old naturally.

However, she had 12 children before that, so it may have been easier. She was always happy and serene, different culture and different times with no career, etc. but certainly home stress to contend with.

Twins naturally conceived, mom was 55

Friday, March 14, 2008
My assistant just attended the birth of twins naturally conceived where the mom was 55, and dad was 70.

Her first child arrived at age 53, and she thought it was a fluke until the twins came along. Mom is a strong healthy Jewish woman.

A woman called me from the east coast the other day, that did in vitro because of fertility problems in her thirties.

At 45, she was pregnant with the second child in two years, naturally conceived.

A week before finding out she was pregnant she failed the Clomid challenge test, and was told she would never get pregnant again. She proved her doctor wrong.

I love my doctor, always have, and she is VERY pro for older women seeking to get pregnant. She had her girls after 40 and 44 as well.

As for all the "alternative" stuff, I am a big proponent of them. And I believe that is what helped me have my first child at 44, and will help me get pregnant again (at 47).

When I was 42, I went to a well-respected RE [reproductive endocrinologist] who told me that I would never have a child without donor eggs. I had high FSH [follicle stimulating hormone] (16), and a very low number of antral follicles and, of course, I was "over the hill" at 42.

IVF [in vitro fertilization] was not an option for me (without donor eggs) because he was sure I would be a "poor responder."

Well, that was probably the best thing that ever happened to me -- after I picked myself off the floor from the devastating news -- because I never messed up my hormones with all those drugs. I just decided that I would take the money I would have spent on IVF and use it to pursue alternative therapies.

It was great. I had weekly appointments for acupuncture, massage, Mayan abdominal massage, energy healers, etc. I totally cleaned up my diet and ate mostly organic, lots of fruits and vegetables etc. I got pregnant about 4 months after the RE told me it was impossible. That pregnancy ended in an early miscarriage.

But then we got pregnant with my son on the second cycle of trying after the D&C [dilation and curettage].

I met a woman recently who'd just had her much-longed for first baby at the grand old age of 48.

Both she and her baby were perfectly healthy.

It won't be easy being an older parent, but at least the child would be wanted, unlike so many.

Pregnant long after they thought they could

Friday, March 7, 2008
Women have also become pregnant long after they thought they could. This includes women in their 50-60's. It is much less likely after the woman has hit age 50 or so, but certainly not impossible.

Again, depending on the woman's hormonal system and analysis, she might be incapable of conceiving at age 45 or 48, while others could conceive as late as the 60's.

Well I finally went to a fertility specialist, and discussed using donor egg due to my age 44. My sister wants to donate her eggs to me. Due to her age 27 and being very fertile she has been able to have son and twins. To my surprise I had not had my period thinking menopause?!!

I did two pregnancy test and are positive. No fertility treatment. I only took Fertility Blend for 3 months. I know I have an up hill battle but I will be taking it day by day. This site has been my encouragement to not give up. I pray for all women who are trying to conceive and are having it hard. I have a lot of testing to done starting tomorrow. Please keep posting I have learned so much from all of you ladies.

4182~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

I am 44 years old, and had my first baby on April 12, 2006. I used no fertility drugs. I had gone to a fertility specialist, but was told my eggs were not viable. My husband was not comfortable with the options he gave us. Then to our surprise, five months later we were pregnant. She is healthy, happy and beautiful.

4183~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

Yes, I just turned 44 and am still reeling from the news of my pregnancy. This will be our 5th gift from God!

4184~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

But Dr. Davis is quick to add: “I’ll be the first to admit that 50 is an arbitrary age since you can have a 52-year-old in excellent health who could successfully become pregnant, and someone, at 38, who should not.”

I'm 49 & have a 6 wk old son

Wednesday, March 5, 2008
I'm 49 and have a 6 week old son, so don't let the doomsayers tell you you're too old. I have a 27, 25 & 16 year old. Amazingly, all with the same husband. This last one was a total surprise.

I had been on birth control pills for most of the last 28 years, except when pregnant with the other three. At 48, thought surely I was too old to get pregnant and stopped taking them.

Within 3 months, guess what? And it's not like we're honeymooners or anything. I couldn't believe the test when I took it. I kept turning it every which way, but there's only so many ways to read a positive test.

4171~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

However, I wanted to share this in the hopes that it might make you feel a little better. I personally know of 2 women (one is an acquaintance and one is my best friend's grandmother) who both got pregnant at 46, unexpectedly, and had completely healthy babies.

If I can know of two such women in my life, I think it means that healthy late-age pregnancies may not be all that rare, regardless of what the doctors say when they look at their statistics. I would like to think this means there's a better chance than you may think (based on the doctor's awful statistics) that all will work out for your guys too.

4172~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

Here is one encouraging story I want to share with you about a women I know.

She started trying to get pregnant in her mid-late thirties. No luck. She went on to try IVF [in vitro fertilization] - over and over again - all to no avail, even though the doctors could find nothing technically "wrong" with her or her husband.

After years of this she and her husband decided to adopt. But even that kept falling through - as they got close to adopting one child, it would fall through at the last minute - repeatedly!

Finally, into her 40s, after all the pain their pregnancy and adoption attempts created, they decided that it just wasn't meant to be and made peace with not having kids. At the age of 46 she didn't get her period.

She thought she was starting an early menopause but found out she was pregnant! She is now the mother of a completely healthy son who's probably about 8 or 9 now. I know this woman personally. Please use this story as inspiration!

4173~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

OK, so my grandma had my dad at 46 (in 1928!), and my other grandma had my uncle at 45 (in 1956). And you KNOW there were no fertility anythings back then. So I say yes, yes, yes it IS possible!

4174~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~@~~~

Yes 45 year old's get pregnant all the time.... I work in an OB/GYN [obstetrician/gynecologist] medical office, and have several patients who are in their 40's, and a couple in early 50's.
