I used my own eggs with donor sperm - this was based on the fact that all my fertility tests were fairly good - Clomid to stimulate the ovaries a bit...... Then an Ovadril injection. Yes, it was an IUI [Intrauterine insemination].
There's a little family medical history that may have been in my favor as well, one cousin was 48 when her daughter was born - she had a normal, uneventful pregnancy, she actually thought menopause had started!!

First at 45 - I was 5 days late, and thought it was the onset of menopause. I was pretty upset about it. I had an old pregnancy test and got two lines on the results. Well, I didn't have the instructions so I wasn't sure if I was pregnant.
Found another test... It was positive, but expired. Then I bought two more tests, they were both positive. I have a doctor appointment on the 6th as I'm high risk. I am concerned because I had a miscarriage when I was 40 at 10 weeks.
I was just going to make an appointment for fertility testing, so I was pretty surprised when the tests came up positive. I just can't bear thinking about another miscarriage.
My boyfriend isn't thrilled that I'm pregnant either. I am trying to be positive but I've only told my sister so far. I told everyone last time and it was really hard when I had the miscarriage. I'm praying and hoping for the best. I think this is my last chance.

I am 44, and delivered a wonderful little boy 12 weeks ago. I did not go to a high risk doctor. The doctors treated me like any other pregnant patient. The pregnancy wasn't much different than my first 3.
I was a little more uncomfortable toward the end than I remembered. Maybe because I was so busy with 2 little ones, that I didn't have time to think about it. The delivery was smooth also.
My TCM [Traditional Chinese Medicine] doctor told me the same thing, that we never use all of our eggs in a lifetime. Our bodies just don't function the same as when we were young. My doctor is in her 50's, has 6 year old twins, naturally. She wasn't even TTC [trying to concieve].
She said she ovulated the day before her period [was due]. She also said that at our age, we can spit out eggs at random, and not even show we ovulated on our charts. She has seen it happen several times. A really hot night of bd'ing [baby-making s*x] can cause us to ovulate.
Don't give up. I would continue with acupuncture and herbs, and one of these times you will catch the golden egg.

I want you to know that my cousin had never had a baby, and at age 45 she got pregnant, and delivered a healthy baby girl at age 46 naturally. Don't give up.
