I am 43, just took a pregnancy test about an hour ago, and then another, and I'm still coming down from the shock of both of them being positive. Somebody help! Is it really okay to have a first baby at my age? Help!

33 years ago, my neighbour had a baby at the age of 47, naturally conceived of course. This was her third baby, a 20 year gap between the first two.
She had no idea she was pregnant until her 7th month, thought she had a tumour. When I asked her about the pregnancy she was matter of fact, saying she worked hard on the farm as usual. So it is possible.
I had my daughter at 42 in 2005, and that was considered old!

I thought I was through with babies after the 16 year old was born. I had been on birth control pills for most of the 28 years I've been married.
Last year, at 48, thought the risks were getting high, and had been told by a doctor 5 years before, the only people who got pregnant at my age, bought eggs. I didn't believe him then, and kept taking birth control pills for 5 more years.
I quit about March of last year, and by May I was pregnant. For the record, the only eggs I bought were at the grocery store. If I knew he meant those kind, we would have been on an egg free diet.
It was quite a shock and although I was devastated at first, I know God had a reason and I am enjoying every minute. It just put a really big change in my next 20 years plans! I love babies, but was happy waiting for grandbabies.
Now I just hope one of the older ones has some in the next few years so my baby will have a niece or nephew to play with, since I'm not going for any more siblings at my age.
You have hope, believe me. I know there are a lot of factors and I don't know all of them, but if you haven't gone through menopause and gone a full year without a period, you can still get pregnant. I didn't do that research before, but now I know!

By now you already know from this group that there are many of us who have gotten pregnant naturally even into the 50’s, so it is possible.
