A consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr. Wanda Alli-Balogun, has advocated the adoption of a novel method of treating infertility in Nigeria.Alli-Balogun made the call at a seminar on “A woman’s challenge,” organised by the Lekki Club for Ladies and Doctors’ Health Initiative in Lagos on Tuesday.
At the seminar, the consultant called for the adoption of a method, Creighton Model Fertility Care system.
According to him, it is a natural method which allows women’s health problems to be solved in line with her fertility cycle.
She stated that although the method was new, it had recorded 80 per cent success, unlike invitro-fertilisation, which success rate was 30 per cent.
In her address, the President of DHI, Dr. Obi Ideh, said that women facing infertility problems should remember that it would not lower their dignity.
She also advised mothers to show love to infertile women. According to her, they should not turn their medical problems to social status.
“We have to look for creative solutions that will be physically and psychologically healthy. There are remedies, but it is necessary for every woman to know her cycle and understand the way her body functions,” she added.
